This machine was built especially for the mass production of frames for road signs.
It is one of a suite of 5 machines, each of which produces a different part of the product.

The number of hot-plates per machine ranges from 3 to 6, each with its own temperature and welding control, so that the welds all take place simultaneously.

The frames are made from HDPE extrusions, the material being from re-cycled stock.

These machines have fixed tooling, which is not changed, but the size of frame produced can be rapidly re-set.

The arrangements for size changeover are such that no setting up is required, and production can resume immediately after, without loss of weld quality.

Each length of extrusion is loaded into the tooling by hand, clamping being automatic.
Cycle time is of the order of 55 seconds.
